Sabha means “assembly” — and that is exactly what we aim to be.

DC Sabha is an intimate, inclusive performing arts space highlighting artists of all levels and art forms from across the South Asian subcontinent.

We began as a few friends in August 2023, hosting informal open mics in local houses. As we’ve grown, we’ve hosted Monthly Sabhas featuring small lineups of local performers, concerts with professional musicians from across the DMV and beyond, and Deep Dives exploring music in the lecture-demonstration format.

We believe in the power of the performing arts to elevate the marginalized, transgress rigid structures of who gets to participate in musical spaces, and transcend the borders of nationality, religion, caste, gender, and sexuality.
